The US has announced an increased $25m (£20.4m) reward for information leading to the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro on the day he was sworn in for a third six-year term in office.  The inauguration ceremony was overshadowed by recrimination from the international community and Venezuelan opposition leaders. Rewards have also been offered for information leading to the arrest and or conviction of Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello. A man who assaulted his sister in a domestic brawl was Friday charged in court.  Abdiaziz Abdullahi Hassan was charged before Makadara magistrate Caroline Mugo and denied the assault charges. The charge sheet read that on January 2, 2025 at about 6.30 pm at Jam Street in Eastleigh, Nairobi he unlawfully caused grievous harm to his sister Ridhwan Abdillahi Hassan. Hassan surrendered himself to the police for questioning at the Nairobi Area Regional DCI headquarters on Tuesday ahead of the plea taking. A light aircraft crashed and caught fire in the Kwachocha area of Malindi, near the Malindi-Mombasa Highway. The plane reportedly landed on several motorcycles in the vicinity on January 10, 2025. Police said there are fears of casualties. Other locals claimed there were three fatalities and three casualties. Detectives are holding a fraud suspect who was found with 96 original Kenya national IDs belonging to different citizens, 10 dummy foldable Samsung phones, and several sim card plates among other suspected stolen items.
