Days after announcing his allegiance to controversial preacher ‘Prophet’ David Owuor, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has publicly proved it by joining his crusade in Nairobi.
Accompanied by Woman Representative Esther Passaris, Babu even took to the podium to drum up support for Owuor’s church, Holiness and Repentance Ministry which operates like a cult.
Speaking at the Word Explosion conference held at Central Park, Nairobi the lawmaker asked the thousands of Owuor’s followers to keep the country in their prayers.
“…as I speak I am filled with the Holy Spirit. Personally I am a member of this church and I’m requesting for the church to pray for this country, let’s pray for the handshake, all leaders and all Kenyans,” he said.
Babu alongside Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi and Nominated MP Gideon Keter castigated the media for unwarranted attacks against Owuor’s ministry.
Earlier on in the week, a section of the media had suggested that those preaching the gospel must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.
But according to the lawmakers, the media erred in attacking the church and the man of god.
“We will pray and forgive those fighting the church. Mimi ni mtoto wa misa and I encourage Prophet Owuor to continue serving the flock,” he said.
Owuor has been embroiled in a bitter property tussle with a family of one of his sheep, Jane Njagi.
According to Njagi’s family, Owuor forcefully took over their sister’s Sh1.5 billion properties in Westlands, Nairobi.
Njagi, formerly a lawyer, is said to have appointed a Lily Macharia also a follower of the “Mightiest Prophet” as co-director of her Shaba Investments Limited.
Police have been trying to establish the account that has been receiving rent amounting to Sh428 million for the past 15 years.
