Hart catches left-handed and is recognized for his focused technique, strong lateral movement, calm demeanor, and mental preparation.

He rose quickly through junior ranks as one of the top goaltending prospects in North America before making his mark in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers.

    Siblings

Carter has one younger sister named Sarah.

The siblings grew up in a supportive hockey-oriented family in Sherwood Park, Alberta, with their parents John and Shauna providing strong encouragement for Carter’s development in the sport from a young age.

    Career

Hart began his junior career with the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he developed into a standout goaltender.

He earned multiple honors, including three Del Wilson Trophies as the WHL’s top goaltender, two CHL Goaltender of the Year awards, and the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as WHL Player of the Year in 2017-18.

He was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round, 48th overall, in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft—the highest-drafted goaltender that year.

He made his NHL debut with the Flyers on December 18, 2018, becoming the youngest goaltender in franchise history to win his debut.

Hart quickly established himself as a key player, posting strong seasons in 2018-19 and 2019-20, including playoff appearances.

He faced challenges with injuries and consistency in subsequent years but remained a cornerstone for Philadelphia until early 2024, when he took an indefinite leave amid legal proceedings related to the 2018 Hockey Canada scandal.

He was acquitted of all charges in 2025.

After the Flyers did not qualify him as a restricted free agent, Hart signed a two-year contract with the Vegas Golden Knights in October 2025 following a professional tryout.

He made his Golden Knights debut in December 2025 and has continued his career in Las Vegas as of the 2025-26 season.

    Accolades

Hart also represented Canada internationally, earning medals at the IIHF World Junior Championship and the Ice Hockey World Championships.

In the NHL, he set multiple franchise records with the Flyers, including becoming the youngest goaltender to win a postseason game and record a shutout.

He earned NHL Rookie of the Month honors in January 2019 and posted a standout 24-13-3 record with a 2.42 GAA in the 2019-20 regular season.

Hart has accumulated over 240 NHL games with more than 100 wins, demonstrating his durability and skill as a starting goaltender.
