    Fire destroys electronic goods at building on Munyu Road

    Property valued at millions of shillings were destroyed in a fire incident along Munyu Road in Nairobi.

    The scene is a few meters away from a similar fire incident that happened last week also destroying electronic goods.

    The fire broke out at the building on Saturday January 10 at about 6 pm before burning down a whole third floor which housed a number of stalls.

    Fire engines were called to the scene and managed to contain the fire six hours later. This was after it had destroyed goods valued at millions of shillings. The owners of the goods counted loses on Sunday as they revisited the scene and called on police to pursue the cause of the same and take action.

    No one was injured in the incident, Nairobi police boss George Seda said.

    Along Manyanja Road in Buru Buru area, a fire burnt down a timber yard destroying property of unknown value.

    The fire broke out as workers were busy at the site. Police said the cause of the fire was not established.

    In Salama area, Laikipia County, at least ten houses were burnt in a fire incident. Police said the cause of the fire was not known and there was no one who was injured in the incident.

    In Likoni’s Shelly Beach area, a house was burnt in a fire incident on Saturday evening. The cause of the fire is yet to be established, police said adding no one was injured.

    And police are investigating two separate drowning incidents in Nyandarua and Kisumu Counties.

    The first incident happened on Saturday in Kwa Major village, Nyairoko Sub-Location, Nyairoko location in Gathanji Sub County where a five-year-old boy drowned in a water collection point meant for livestock drinking within a compound.

    Police said the deceased was last seen playing within the compound and later found floating on the said water point.

    The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

    In Nyamasaria area, Kisumu County, a boy aged eight who was a grade three pupil at Sunrise Academy drowned in a river in the area while swimming with other children.
