    Girl dies after falling from third-floor balcony in Uthiru

    A three-year-old girl died after falling from the balcony of a third-floor building in Uthiru, Nairobi.

    The child reportedly fell from the balcony of a building known as Pebbles on Thursday at about 4:30pm while playing with other children.

    According to police, the girl sustained serious head injuries in the fall and was rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment.

    She later died at about 8pm while undergoing treatment.

    Police said the incident was reported on Friday by the child’s mother, a resident of Uthiru Genesis.

    The child’s body was preserved at Kenyatta National Hospital pending a postmortem examination.

    And an eight-month-old baby drowned in a bucket at a home in Mutuini, Dagoretti, Nairobi.

    According to police the incident occurred on Thursday evening after the child’s mother, left her daughter, on a chair while she went outside to clean.

    When she returned, she reportedly found the baby drowning inside a bucket.

    The mother rushed the infant to Saint Oshwa Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

    Police officers from Mutuini Police Station visited the health facility and confirmed the death.

    The baby’s body was moved to Mbagathi Funeral Home, where it was preserved pending an autopsy.

    Elsewhere, a man died after allegedly being assaulted by five men who were reportedly found illegally digging up irrigation pipes at Mnazi Moja Centre in Busia County.

    The deceased, identified as Wellington Agunda, was allegedly attacked at about 1am on Friday.

    One of the deceased’s sons went to a house and reported that his father had been attacked by five men.

    Agunda was rushed to Bulanda Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

    Police officers visited the hospital and confirmed the death.

    The deceased had visible deep injuries to his head. His body was moved to Francis Funeral Home for preservation pending a postmortem examination.

    Police also visited and documented the scene as investigations into the incident continued.

    The suspects reportedly fled after the incident, and police are pursuing them.
