Detectives are investigating the murder of a 17-year-old girl whose body was found in a thicket in the Mbita area, Homa Bay County.

The incident happened in Kasgunga village on Monday January 5, police said. The girl had on Sunday left for a posho mill in the area but failed to return home.

This prompted the family to get concerned and started to search for her.

Police said the body was found in a thicket near their homestead hours later. There was blood oozing from her left eye when the body was found, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

The motive of the murder was not established immediately, police said. A team of detectives revisited the scene on Tuesday as part of the probe into the murder. Police said no arrest had been made and they want to establish if she was assaulted before being murdered.

In Njoro’s Ndarugu river, a decomposed body of a human was found after it had been swept there. The gender of the body was not immediately established as it had badly decomposed when it was found on Monday afternoon.

The remains were moved to the mortuary pending identification and autopsy, police said.

In Villa area, Embakasi, Nairobi, the body of one Zedekia Sikote Okiya, 34 was found on the roadside with wounds after suspected murder. The circumstances surrounding the murder were not known. His friends told police they had parted ways on Sunday before they were informed his body was discovered in the area lying in a pool of blood.

The police said the body had injuries on the forehead, nose and left shoulder.

the body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures, police said adding they were hunting for the assailants.
