    Ja Morant Salary

Morant’s NBA salary has increased significantly as his career has progressed.

His first NBA contract paid him a fraction of what he would later earn as an established superstar.

The five-year maximum extension signed in 2022 became the foundation of his long-term NBA earnings.

Depending on the final value of his contract and performance incentives, Morant could earn more than $200 million from the agreement alone.

His NBA salary is complemented by income from endorsement deals, particularly his partnerships with Nike and Powerade.

    Ja Morant Powerade Contract

One of Morant’s most lucrative endorsement agreements has been with Powerade.

The beverage company signed Morant to a multi-year deal that reportedly paid him approximately $10 million per year.

Powerade announced the partnership on March 1, 2023, committing significant resources to advertising campaigns featuring the NBA star, including commercials, radio advertisements and billboards.

However, the partnership was affected by controversy shortly after its announcement.

Three days after Powerade announced the agreement, a video appearing to show Morant holding a gun was posted during an Instagram Live broadcast.

Powerade subsequently paused advertising campaigns featuring Morant.

    Ja Morant Nike Deal

Nike has also been an important commercial partner for Morant.

The basketball star signed a multi-year agreement with Nike in 2019 reportedly worth approximately $12 million per year.

The partnership eventually resulted in the launch of his own signature shoe line.

In April 2023, Nike released the Ja 1, making Morant one of a small group of NBA players with a signature shoe.

However, the relationship faced difficulties following a second gun-related social media incident in May 2023. Nike subsequently removed Morant’s shoes from its website and app.

Despite the controversies surrounding his career, Morant’s commercial profile has remained significant.

The Grizzlies pulled off an upset in Game 1, with Morant helping lead the team to victory.

In Game 2, he scored 47 points and added seven assists.

Although Memphis eventually lost the series, Morant’s playoff performance established him as a major young star.

His ability to attack the basket, create opportunities for teammates and finish above the rim has made him one of the most recognizable young players in basketball.

    Ja Morant Controversies

Morant’s rapid rise has also been accompanied by several controversies.

In March 2023, he appeared in an Instagram Live video that appeared to show him displaying a gun at a nightclub in the Denver area.

The NBA subsequently suspended him for eight games for conduct detrimental to the league.

In May 2023, another Instagram Live video appeared to show Morant holding a gun.

The incidents resulted in significant scrutiny of the player and affected some of his commercial relationships.
