Kalonzo thinking of killing Wiper Party, to rejoin ODM

This is the last election that Wiper Party is participating in after which the party is to collapse and rejoin ODM.

A source privy to the goings on say Kalonzo believes he stands a better chance becoming president in post-Raila era by rejoining and strengthening ODM, rather than remaining Party Leader  of Wiper Party which is still largely Ukambani based, with little traction outside his Kamba backyard.

“The future of Kenya is two strong parties. Jubilee is already one, ODM is another. It will be hard to run for presidency outside these two parties. This is what informs Kalonzo move,” a senator allied to Wiper told Kahawa Tungu.

Initially, Kalonzo, alongside Raila Odinga, William Ruto, Uhuru Kenyatta and others founded ODM Kenya, then as a movement opposed to the 2005 constitution. Kalonzo later contested the presidency in 2007 on ODM Kenya ticket, and Raila on ODM ticket, splitting the vote and both losing to PNU’s Mwai Kibaki, though the 2007 presidential poll remains disputed as to who won.

Insiders say Raila will still remain the ODM Party Leader as Kalonzo becomes the presidential candidate with Musalia Mudavadi as runningmate.
