Police in North East Kano, Kisumu County, launched an investigation into the death of a 24-year-old man following an alleged fight over Sh20 at Obago village.
The deceased, identified as John Rao Otieno, died on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, after a confrontation with a colleague, police said.
Police said Otieno had been working with three other young men on a water pipeline leading to the residence of Prof. Ayiecho Olweny in the area.
A disagreement reportedly arose between Otieno and the assailant over Sh20 before the two engaged in a fight.
Police said the assailant allegedly kicked Otieno in the abdomen, causing him to fall down and die. The suspect reportedly fled immediately after the incident.
Police visited the scene and processed it for evidence.
A physical examination of Otieno’s body reportedly revealed no visible external injuries.
The body was subsequently removed and taken to Othoo Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a postmortem examination.
Police are pursuing the suspect as investigations continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the death.
And police in Ugunja, Siaya County, launched investigations into the murder of a 36-year-old casual worker whose body was found lying in a pool of blood along a road in Got Osimbo village.
The deceased, identified as Kennedy Odhiambo Obonyo, was found on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, along the Got Osimbo–Bar Atheng road.
Police who visited the scene found Obonyo’s lifeless body on the road with multiple fresh cuts to the head, which investigators believe were inflicted using a sharp object.
The motive for the killing had not been established by the time of the report.
Officers processed the scene for evidence before the body was moved to the Ambira Level IV Hospital mortuary in Ugunja, where it is being preserved pending a postmortem examination.
Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing and are seeking to establish the events leading to Obonyo’s death and identify those responsible.
