A man was rescued from an irate mob after he had fatally slashed his three-year-old daughter in a bizarre incident in Musoli, Kakamega County.

The man also slashed and injured two other children aged four in the attack on April 18, police said.

They were rushed to hospital and admitted in serious but stable condition.

The motive of the attack was not immediately established. It emerged the man had lured the deceased girl and her brothers, both aged four to a thicket where he attacked them.

The screams from the children attracted locals who responded and attacked the assailant as others rushed the injured children to the hospital.

Police said the girl died on the spot and had a deep cut in the forehead.

A team that rushed to the scene rescued the man and took him to hospital under guard.

The panga that he used in the attack was recovered at the scene.

Police later moved the body of the minor to the hospital pending an autopsy and investigations.

The investigators said they intend to charge the man with murder and causing bodily harm when he recovers from the injuries.

Meanwhile, a missing tenant was found dead in his house in the Lock Line area, Kiambu County.

Police said the deceased identified as Samuel Nduru, 30 died by suicide.

His body was found hanging on from a truss of his house with a white electric cable tied around his neck.

His landlord told police he had not seen the deceased for sometimes which raised his curiosity

He went to his house to check on him but he found the door locked from inside which prompted him to peep to his window and saw his body dangling from the roof.

Police said no suicide note was found at the scene apart from his identity card and the motive of the incident was not immediately known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

Suicide incidents have been on the rise in the country amid efforts to address the trend.
