A 35-year-old man was fatally stabbed in a robbery incident in Kamulu area, Nairobi County.

The victim was identified as Geoffrey Gicheru. Before his death, he had left his house in the area and was headed for work in the city centre, his wife said.

The wife was on January 28 morning alerted that her husband was lying on the Josnah Road with a stab wound.

She rushed to the scene and confirmed the man had died and was lying in a pool of blood with stab wounds in the chest. His cash and valuables were missing following the robbery. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Police said they were hunting for the gang behind the murder and robbery.

Such incidents are on the rise early in the morning and late in the evening. Police usually advise victims to cooperate with their attackers for their own safety.

As part of efforts to address the menace, police have increased patrols and operations in urban areas.

Elsewhere in Masii, Machakos County, a man was found dead in his house after a suspected assault. The deceased was identified as Duncan Nzioka, 38 of Kionyweni village. Police said his body had bruises in the right side of the head and waist with a swollen right eye. Police moved the body to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigation into murder.

In Mbakalo, Bungoma County, one Brian Matanda, 26 was killed in an attack on the roadside. The police linked the attack to three men who are at large. The man was pronounced dead in hospital. Police said they are yet to establish the motive of the murder.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Such murder incidents have been on the rise in rural areas with most of them being linked to differences over money, land disputes and love triangles. Police are rushing to solve the reported cases.

Some are pending in courts for now.
