Detectives are investigating an incident where a university student was found dead after he had been stabbed in an altercation in Keses, Uasin Gishu County.

The deceased, identified as Elvis Mureithi Morara, 20 was a student at Moi University main campus.

The murder happened on Saturday July 19, at the Dadina Apartments in Talai Centre, police said.

Morara is said to have been stabbed by a fellow student at the apartments.

He was a first-year student pursuing a Bachelor of Information and was stabbed on the left side of the chest.

It was alleged that a group of students were walking to their residential apartments when the deceased used what was deemed a vulgar language against the assailant.

He picked a knife and stabbed the deceased, killing him.

The assailant escaped the scene and efforts to trace him were ongoing, police said.

The murder weapon was recovered at the scene.

Police said they arrested two other suspects who were at the scene as part of the probe into the murder.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and further probe.

Meanwhile, police are investigating a suicide incident where a man died after jumping from the sixth floor of a residential house in Pipeline, Nairobi.

According to police, Ambrose Wambua, 22 jumped from the sixth floor and landed on the ground floor, dying instantly.

Police who visited the scene said the body had blood oozing from the head where he had been injured.

The motive of the incident is yet to be established.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

In Nyatieko, Kisii County, a 60-year-old man was found dead after a suspected suicide.

The body of James Biraori was found hanging on a rope tied around his neck in his house, long after he had died.

The motive of the suicide was not immediately established, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary.
