For the past seven months players of Kenyan Premier League side Mount Kenya United have not known what a salary looks like.

But they have continued to give their best on the field despite the difficult working conditions except when they felt enough was enough and dished out a walkover to Gor Mahia.

To reaffirm their commitment to the game, the boys gave put all their demands aside on Sunday, went to Kericho and beat Zoo FC 2-3.

Before making the trip, they were promised to be paid on Monday once they return to the city, but Kahawa Tungu sports desk has since established that that was just another empty promise.

Speaking to one player, who didn’t want to be mentioned, he revealed that the situation keeps getting worse for them.

“It was just another empty promise. The situation is bad and we are suffering,” said the player.

The team is scheduled to play Western Stima on Wednesday in a league fixture at the Kenyatta Stadium, Machakos.

“We will honor the match and wait to hear what the club will tell us.”
