Kenyan Musicians led by Antoneosoul and Dan Aceda have come up in arms against Magical Kenya and the Kenya tourism board for inviting South African artists Mafikizolo to head line an event showcasing Kenyan culture.
The artist said that the being a musician in Kenya had turned into an extreme sport because they were not being appreciated by corporate.
The artists felt that Kenyan artists ought to have been given the opportunity and platforms to show case their talent.
Here is the tweet :
Thank you @magicalkenya and @KenyaOpenGolf for giving us Kenyan Artistes another chance to showcase how brilliant we are on stage! I just performed for 3 hours at #antoLIVE and can’t wait to watch my fellow Kenyans @MafikizoloSA sindio @danaceda ? pic.twitter.com/bGliy4EXC2

Just to add insult to injury GOK which has 'no money' is the main sponsor.. Prize fund is 120M not counting logistics, Mafikizolo etc https://t.co/qUf7KU2QTd

When Mafikizolo get to headline a MAGICAL KENYA OPEN gig, imagine the message you are sending to all the foreign visitors! That we have the capacity to host a golf event but none to hire our own to perform? That Kenyan Artistes aren’t enough! That YOU aren’t enough

Every cent you put in a foreign Artistes pocket at the expense of hiring local Artistes will be spent in their countries, to build their countries, to build themselves. They don’t even mingle with our wildlife and when they do it’s sponsored. It’s FREE. Like WTF ??♂️
