Nairobi county’s daily revenue collection has risen from Sh. 7 million to Shs. 38.2 million, Governor Mike Sonko has revealed.

The Governor attributed the success to his sting operation at the city hall cash offices where he found 7 million in cash.

“I am happy to say that after raiding the cash office and instructed that people pay revenue directly to the bank, collections have improved,” he said.

In his effort to seal all the loopholes, the former Senator has digitized 14 out of 136 revenue streams.

He said that delivering services to the city residents took precedence and would ensure that the revenue would do exactly that.

The county boss added that his government was targeting motorists who do not pay parking fees and those that bribe their way out of making similar payments.

“I am warning the motorists who do not pay the parking fee that their vehicles will be impounded.”

He asked city dwellers to use the e-JijiPay service or online payment system when making payments.

The governor while taking oath office vowed to clean up the city of garbage and cartels that held the county’s economy hostage.
