Nedra Talley Ross, the last surviving member of the legendary girl group The Ronettes, has died at the age of 80, her family and the group’s official social media account confirmed.

The announcement was made on Sunday via The Ronettes’ official Facebook page, which paid tribute to her life, legacy, and lasting contribution to music history.

“It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Nedra Talley Ross’ passing. She was a light to those who knew and loved her,” the statement read.

“As a founding member of The Ronettes, along with her beloved cousins Ronnie and Estelle, Nedra’s voice, style and spirit helped define a sound that would change music. Her contribution to the group’s story and their defining influence will live forever. Rest peacefully dear Nedra. Thanks for the magic.”

Her daughter, Nedra K. Ross, also confirmed the news in a heartfelt Facebook post, saying her mother died on Sunday morning surrounded by family.

“At approximately 8:30 this morning our mother Nedra Talley Ross went home to be with the Lord,” she wrote. “She was safe in her own bed at home with her family close, knowing she was loved.”

The cause of death has not been disclosed.

The Ronettes, consisting of lead singer Ronnie Spector, her sister Estelle Bennett, and cousin Nedra Talley Ross, rose to fame in the 1960s after signing with Phil Spector’s Philles Records in 1963.

They became one of the most influential girl groups of all time, producing timeless hits such as “Be My Baby” (1963) and “Baby, I Love You” (1964). Their distinctive sound, style, and stage presence helped shape the era of pop and rock music and influenced generations of artists.

Although the group disbanded in 1967 following a decline in popularity, their legacy endured. Their signature track “Be My Baby” was later inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999, cementing their place in music history.

Over the years, The Ronettes have continued to receive recognition for their influence on music and fashion, particularly their iconic “beehive” hairstyles and glamorous stage image.

Estelle Bennett died in 2009, while Ronnie Spector passed away in 2022 after a battle with cancer.

The group’s cultural impact continues to resonate in modern entertainment. A biopic titled Be My Baby, directed by Barry Jenkins, is currently in development at A24, with Zendaya set to portray Ronnie Spector.
