    Parker Wotherspoon is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman currently playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League.

    Born on August 24, 1997, in Surrey, British Columbia, Wotherspoon stands at 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds.

    He is recognized for his strong skating ability, puck-moving skills, and reliable defensive play, having developed into a steady NHL contributor after several years in the minor leagues.

    Wotherspoon shoots left and has built a reputation as a mobile blue-liner capable of joining the rush and making solid first passes.

    Parker Wotherspoon comes from a hockey family in the Surrey area, just outside Vancouver.

    He has one older brother, Tyler Wotherspoon, who is also a professional defenseman.

    Tyler was selected 57th overall by the Calgary Flames in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft and has played extensively in the AHL with brief NHL appearances.

    Career

    Wotherspoon’s career began in junior hockey with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League, where he played four seasons and earned recognition as a West Second All-Star Team selection in 2016-17.

    The New York Islanders selected him in the fourth round, 112th overall, at the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

    He turned professional in 2016 and spent several years developing in the AHL with the Bridgeport Islanders, where he posted solid numbers, including a career-high 23 points in 64 games during the 2018-19 season.

    Wotherspoon made his NHL debut with the Islanders on December 23, 2022.

    He later signed with the Boston Bruins as a free agent and appeared in 41 games during the 2023-24 season and 55 games in 2024-25.

    On the eve of the 2025-26 season or during it, he joined the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he has seen significant ice time, logging a full 80 games with strong underlying metrics.

    Through the 2025-26 season, Wotherspoon has appeared in 188 NHL games, recording 4 goals, 42 assists, and 46 points with a plus-18 rating.

    Accolades

    Wotherspoon’s accolades include junior-level honors such as the WHL West Second All-Star Team selection in 2016-17.

    In the NHL, he has earned consistent playing time as a depth or middle-pair defenseman, highlighted by steady performance in the 2025-26 season with the Penguins, where he contributed 3 goals and 27 assists for 30 points while averaging over 20 minutes per game.

    His international experience includes participation in the U-17 Hockey Challenge with Team Pacific.
