A taxi driver was stabbed and seriously wounded in a confrontation with a passenger he had ferried to Eastleigh, Nairobi.
The confrontation was sparked over a misunderstanding over the pay for the trip, the driver said.
The assailant escaped the scene after the December 30, 2025 incident.
The driver told police he had received a request to pick up a passenger from South C to Eastleigh. On reaching Eastleigh near a local mosque, a disagreement arose between the passenger and the driver.
The said passenger made a call to someone to bring him a knife which he used to stab the driver in an attack.
Police said the driver was stabbed four times on the back and fell unconscious in the drama as the assailant escaped the scene.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was admitted in a stable condition, police said.
Police said on Wednesday they were pursuing the customer who is believed to have attacked the driver. They are also looking for the man who brought the knife that was used in the attack.
And police are investigating an incident where a man was stoned to death over claims he was a thief in the Riruta area, Nairobi.
The victim was identified as Peter Shimenya, 24. He was accused of being a thief before he was stoned to death and his body set on fire. Local dogs then started to feed on the remains before police arrived to pick it up to the mortuary.
Police said they are investigating the incident and hope to get the suspects behind the same.
Cases of mob lynching have been on the rise amid efforts to address the trend. Police want suspects to be surrendered to authorities for processing and possible arraignment.
Up to three cases are reported daily in the country in the worrying trend.
