    Police Hosts IPA Green Project At Ngong College

    Police Hosts IPA Green Project At Ngong College

    The International Police Association (IPA) Kenya Chapter launched a major environmental initiative by planting trees at the National Police Leadership Academy (NPLA) in Ngong, Kajiado County.

    The event took place on April 24, 2025.

    President of the IPA Kenya Chapter and Public Information Officer of the Kenya Police Service Jared Ojuok said they will continue with their mission.

    “We intend to spread this mission to other parts of the country to ensure the environment of well maintained,” he said.

    He also expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police for his unwavering support to their work.

    Police have been leading in efforts to ensure trees are planted all the time.

    The event reinforced the NPS’s commitment to police-public partnerships, aiming to strengthen community relations through environmental stewardship and community policing efforts.

    The NPS Director of Training and Research Phillip Opiyo, AIG, highlighted the vital connection between peace and environmental conservation.

    He encouraged law enforcement officers to integrate environmental management into crime prevention strategies.

    In his welcoming remarks, NPLA Commandant Mathiu Kainga, also an IPA member, praised the association for its impactful initiatives.

    He noted that such efforts not only promote environmental sustainability but also embody the IPA motto: “Servo per Amikeco” (Service Through Friendship).

    “We encourage more organisations to join such an initiative as it helps communities,” he said.

    The IPA, founded in 1950 in the UK, is the world’s largest police organisation, with over 420,000 members across 66 countries.

    Its global headquarters are in Nottingham, England. The IPA Kenya Section was officially established on 12 September 1961 during the 3rd World Congress in Stuttgart, Germany.

    Headquartered at Jogoo House A, the IPA Kenya Section has played a key role in enhancing police capabilities through local and international training programmes.

    Membership is open to all serving and retired police officers, regardless of rank, gender, race, language, or religion.
