    Probe as body of man is found buried in pit in Nyamira

    Security agencies were Friday investigating the burial of an unidentified man in a pit at a homestead in Nyamusi village, Nyamira County.

    The incident happened in Nyakenimo where the body had been buried in a shallow pit behind a construction site.

    Locals said the bananas had been planted on the grave to cover up the crime and that it had been there for the past four months.

    Police said they anticipated to get an order to exhume the body on February 27, 2026 for identification and investigations.

    The motive of the murder of the man is yet to be known.

    In Myanga, Bungoma County, one Maxwell Juma, 25 was found dead in a pool of blood after a suspected murder.

    Police said the body had stab wounds in the left collar bone suspected to have been inflicted by a sharp object.

    Police said the deceased had attended a night funeral vigil in the area where a confrontation broke out.

    It was then he was stabbed in the drama. Police said a blood stained jacket belonging to one of the suspects was recovered as investigations went on.

    Two suspects were later arrested over the murder which happened on February 27, 2026 as the body was moved to the mortuary for autopsy and other procedures.

    Elsewhere in Ishiara, Embu County, a motorcyclist was electrocuted by a loosely hanging live wires.

    His body was found lying on the roadside near the site where the cables were hanging, police said f the Thursday incident.

    The deceased was identified as Josphat Kinyua, 47.

    Kenya Power officials were informed of the incident and visited the scene for repairs.

    The family of the deceased demanded compensation as the body was moved to the mortuary pending other procedures. Electrocution cases have been on the rise amid efforts to address the menace. Most cases are linked to illegal power connections.
