President William Ruto has donated Sh1 million to the family of Dr. Enock Andanje to support funeral arrangements following his sudden death.
Dr. Andanje, a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) aspirant in the upcoming Malava Constituency by-election, collapsed and died on Friday while attending a widows’ empowerment event in Malava. The event, which was also attended by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, turned tragic when efforts to resuscitate him failed. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
On Saturday, Mr. Mudavadi visited the family home in Imanda Village, Manda-Shivanga Ward, Malava Constituency, to deliver condolences from President Ruto.
“Dr. Andanje has left us far too soon. His passing is not only a deep loss to his family but also a setback to our community and the democratic journey he was prepared to champion,” Mudavadi said.
He described the late Dr. Andanje as a dedicated educationist and community leader. Before joining politics, Dr. Andanje served as principal of Bungoma High School and had taken early retirement to vie for the MP seat in Malava.
Mudavadi delivered the President’s contribution of Sh1 million and added his own personal donation of Sh300,000 to assist the family with burial preparations.
