sambojaTaita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has never been a student at the Kenyatta University, the institution has revealed.

The University has said that the county boss presented a forged certificate during the August 8 election.

A petition has been filed by Armstrong Mwandoo Kiwoi, voter who is seeking to have his win canceled for submitting fake documents from KU.

Kiwoi is also suing the IEBC for accepting Samboja’s false degree certificate.

The county boss has been on the EACC’s radar since April with the commission seeking clarification on three certificates: diploma, degree.

The certificates in question indicated that Mr Samboja studied certificate, diploma and degree courses at the institution of higher learning between 2002 and 2009.

The institution also part of the case, said the ‘…certificates were and are fake.’

Aaron Tanui, the legal officer at the university, on Monday further said that the governor still tried to gain admission for masters of business administration studies in the same institution but was turned away.

Tanui said in the application for the masters programme, Samboja claimed he earned a bachelors degree from Universadad E Dee Costa Rica.

The official said the governor, when applying for the masters course, attached a document indicating he scored a grade C in KCSE  despite the fact that he scored a grade D.

Samboja is facing a similar case at the Milimani law courts filed by EACC, and has argued that the electoral court has no jurisdiction to entertain Kiwoi’s petition.
