Siaya County Finance CECM Joseph Warega has resigned after clashing with his governor Cornel Rasanga.
The outgoing Minister is noted to have walked out after disagreeing with Rasanga over the use of public funds.
According to Daily Nation, the CECM resigned after facing sacking threats.
Confirming his minister’s resignation, Rasanga claimed that Warega opted to resign as opposed to facing accountability issues.
“I have received the letter from the finance head. He opted to resign rather than confront accountability issues we had raised with his office,” the governor stated.
It is reported that he had been summoned by the County MCAs over misuse of funds under his docket.

Additionally, he was allegedly fined Ksh200,000 for missing one of the meetings in November 2018.
The governor did not waste his time as he immediately appointed the county’s CEC in-charge of water, Adrian Ouma, to head the docket in acting capacity.
Speaking on the resignation, County Chief of Staff Walter Okello noted: “This reorganization is aimed at consolidating and fast tracking the county government’s development agenda and service delivery.”
Before Rasanga appointed him as the CEC, Warega had worked as the County’s Director of Finance since 2014.
