    Siblings

Srđan has one younger brother, Nebojša Babić, who is also a professional footballer and plays as a centre-back.

Nebojša is approximately two years younger than Srđan. The brothers grew up in a football-oriented family in Banja Luka, with their father Milanko, a former footballer himself, and mother Vesna providing strong support throughout their development.

Nebojša started his career at Borac Banja Luka, the same club where Srđan began, and has continued playing in the lower divisions of Republika Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina football.

He has featured for clubs including Borac, Krupa (with whom he won titles), Laktaši, and more recently Kozara Gradiška.

Srđan has spoken of their close relationship, describing Nebojša as his closest and most sincere friend with whom he regularly exchanges experiences.

    Career

Babić started out in the youth ranks of hometown club Borac Banja Luka from around 2001 to 2011 before moving to the academy of Serbian side Vojvodina in August 2011.

He made his senior debut for Vojvodina on 1 March 2014 and became a regular in the following season. In the summer of 2015 he transferred to Spanish club Real Sociedad, where he primarily featured for the reserve team (Real Sociedad B).

He spent the 2016–17 season on loan at Reus Deportiu in the Spanish second tier. In 2017 he joined Red Star Belgrade, initially on loan and later permanently.

During his time at Red Star he made numerous appearances and also spent the 2020–21 season on loan at Portuguese club Famalicão.

In 2021 he moved to Spanish side Almería, first on loan and then permanently, helping the club gain promotion to La Liga.

In August 2023 he signed for Spartak Moscow in Russia, where he has continued as a regular starter in the Premier Liga.

On the international stage, Babić represented Serbia at various youth levels, including the under-17, under-19, under-20, and under-21 teams.

He made his senior debut for Serbia in September 2022 and has since earned multiple caps, including appearances at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and UEFA Euro 2024.

    Accolades

Babić’s major honours include winning the FIFA U-20 World Cup with Serbia in 2015 in New Zealand. At club level he claimed the Serbian Cup with Vojvodina in the 2013–14 season, scoring in the final.

With Red Star Belgrade he won multiple Serbian SuperLiga titles (including 2017–18, 2018–19, 2019–20, and 2021–22). He contributed to Almería’s Segunda División title and promotion to La Liga in 2021–22.

More recently he has been part of Spartak Moscow’s successful campaigns, including a Russian Cup triumph. Individually he was named in the Serbian SuperLiga Team of the Season during his early days at Vojvodina.

He has also received recognition from Republika Srpska, including the Medal of Merit.
