Stefanie Maria Graf, widely known as Steffi Graf, is a German former professional tennis player widely regarded as one of the greatest in the history of the sport.
Born on June 14, 1969, in Mannheim, West Germany, to parents Peter and Heidi Graf, she grew up in nearby Brühl.
Her father, an aspiring coach and former car and insurance salesman, introduced her to tennis at a very young age, placing a sawed-off wooden racket in her hands when she was still a toddler.
Graf turned professional in 1982 at the age of 13 and quickly rose to prominence with her powerful baseline game, particularly her renowned forehand.
After retiring from professional tennis in 1999, she has focused on family life, primarily in the Las Vegas area, and on her charitable foundation, Children for Tomorrow, which supports children affected by war and trauma.

Born on September 4, 1971, also in Mannheim, Germany, Michael is approximately two years younger than his sister.

Career
Steffi Graf’s professional career spanned from 1982 to 1999 and was marked by remarkable consistency, versatility, and dominance across all surfaces.
She made her professional debut as a teenager and claimed her first WTA title in 1986.
Her breakthrough major title came at the 1987 French Open.

The pinnacle of her career arrived in 1988, when she achieved the Golden Slam by winning the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open in the same calendar year while also capturing the Olympic gold medal in singles at the Seoul Games—an unmatched feat in tennis history.

She is the only player, male or female, to have won each of the four majors at least four times.
In addition to her Golden Slam in 1988, she secured five WTA Tour Championships titles and a total of 107 singles titles overall.
Graf held the world No. 1 ranking for a record 377 weeks and finished as the year-end No. 1 a record eight times.
Her Olympic record includes gold in singles in 1988, silver in singles in 1992, and bronze in doubles in 1988.
She also contributed to Germany’s Fed Cup victories.
Career statistics show an exceptional win-loss record of approximately 900–115 in singles.
In recognition of her legacy, she was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2004 and has received numerous national and international honors for both her sporting excellence and her charitable work.
