A form four student drowned in a dam while on a swimming expedition in Gatundu, Kiambu County.

The incident happened on Sunday afternoon at the Karemenu Dam. The police said the victim was a student at Ndiko Secondary School. He and his colleague had gone to the dam for swimming when he drowned. The body was later retrieved by locals and moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

Meanwhile, a nine-month-old baby was killed in a fire incident in Sega, Siaya County. The baby was sleeping in their house when the fire broke out gutting it.

The police said the baby was burnt beyond recognition. The charred remains were moved to the mortuary pending other procedures.

And police in Dandora, Nairobi are investigating an incident where a man was stabbed and killed in a fight among a group.

The body of Alfred Oketch, 30 was found with stab wounds in the chest. The assailant stabbed and injured another man in the Monday morning drama. Police said the assailant was attacked by a mob and seriously wounded before he was rescued and taken to the hospital pending investigations while the body of the deceased was moved to the mortuary,

Police said they were pursuing other suspects who were involved in the brawl.

Elsewhere along Red Carpet Road in Muthangari, Nairobi, a suspected mobile phone snatcher was lynched by a mob in a dramatic chase. The man’s body was set on fire after he had been killed.

Such cases of mob lynching targeting mobile phone snatchers have been on the rise in urban areas. This follows the increased attacks by suspected thugs on motorcycles targeting pedestrians.

Most of the suspects come from different places for the gadgets. Some succeed while others are caught and killed in the chaos. Police said the incidents are under investigations after it emerged most of the stolen gadgets are refurbished before being sent to the neighbouring countries and sold off to unsuspecting buyers.
