Police are investigating an incident where unknown thieves broke into the rural house of former trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuiria and stole his household goods.

The incident happened Sunday October 12, 2025 morning in Wamwangi village, Gatundu South, Kiambu County, police said.

Kuria and his family were not at home at the time of the incident. Some of the stolen goods which included spoons were found abandoned within the farm.

His farm workers realized the kitchen door of the main house was open and on checking they confirmed there was a burglary.

Police were alerted and visited the scene and confirmed the thieves gained entrance from the back door of the house after a constructive breaking.

The said thieves carted away a 64-inch LG tv set, one 13 kg gas cylinder, four thermos flasks and assorted household goods.

Police combed the area and recovered two padlocks, one white thermos flask, spoons and pegs within the farm.

There was no comment from Kuria. He said the matter is under probe for now and asked the police to be left to do their job.

Kuria was removed as a Cabinet Secretary in 2024 following a Gen Z protest. He was named an adviser to the president before he resigned a few months ago.

He is believed to be eyeing a political seat.

Elsewhere in Runda, Nairobi, a mob recovered a pistol and assorted stolen property in a failed robbery incident.

The incident happened along Kiambu Road near the Northern bypass bus stop, police said.

A security guard who was headed home to the nearby Githogoro informal settlement said he was confronted by a lone gunman who demanded that he surrender all his valuables and cash.

After the said gunman grabbed his mobile phone he ran towards the Githogoro area as the victim raised an alarm.

A group of boda boda operators in the area joined the chase prompting the gunman to drop his pistol and three mobile phones and escape.

Police were called to the scene and took control of the Jericho pistol with an empty magazine and the three mobile phones.

The victim was able to identify his robbed mobile phone.

Police said they are investigating the incident.
