At least three night guards were killed at their separate places of work by suspected thugs in Kisumu and Siaya Counties.

Police said no arrest had been made over the Sunday incidents and efforts to get the assailants were ongoing.

In one of the incidents, a guard had his head, hands and legs severed and were missing amid investigations, police said.

In the first incident, a night guard was hacked to death in an attempted robbery at a mattress factory in Kondele area, Kisumu County.

His colleague was admitted in hospital with serious injuries after the attack on February 15, 2026 dawn, police said.

Police identified the victim as Joash Otieno, 35 and added he was guarding Tuff Foam Factory when he was attacked. He was rushed to the hospital with deep cuts in the head where he succumbed to the injuries.

The colleague, according to the police was responding well to the medical attention after the attack.

His body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigation into the murder.

The incident happened as a gang tried to rob property at the facility, police said.

Security guards are usually the first defence in such attacks and these have left a number of them dead or injured amid ongoing investigations.

Elsewhere in Ndori, Siaya County, the body of a man was found lying on the banks of a stream after murder elsewhere.

Police said they were yet to establish the motive of the man and were working to identify the victim.

He is believed to be a security guard as he wore a trouser and belt of a private security company.

Police said the head, both hands and legs had been severed and were missing.

The torso and a piece of hand were moved to the mortuary pending investigations. Police said they were searching in the area to find the missing body parts as part of ongoing investigations.

In Ugunja, Siaya County, a night guard was killed at a credit facility office. The assailants stole six motorbikes in the February 15 incident at the Watu Credit Company.

A gang broke into the offices through the rear door of the facility and killed one Sylivester Ojawng, 45 before stealing the motorbikes.

Police said the assailants hacked the victim in the head leaving him dead at the site after he allegedly resisted their moves.

The body of the victim was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy. Police said they were pursuing good leads on the incident and no arrest had been made so far.
