Police officers in Bura East Sub-County, Garissa County, have recovered 40 stolen cattle and arrested two suspects following a multi-agency operation.

The operation was conducted on Friday, September 4, 2026, as officers pursued leads into the theft of livestock in the area.

According to the National Police Service, the livestock was recovered during a well-coordinated operation involving multiple security agencies.

The 40 cattle were identified and, after the necessary documentation was completed, handed back to their rightful owners.

The recovery is expected to provide relief to the affected livestock owners, who had reported the animals stolen.

Two suspects described by police as the primary suspects in the livestock theft were arrested during the operation.

They were placed in custody and are undergoing formal processing ahead of their arraignment in court.

The National Police Service credited members of the public for providing information that helped officers respond to the incident and recover the stolen livestock.

“The National Police Service commends community members for their swift reporting and cooperation, which were vital to the success of this operation and the recovery of the stolen livestock,” police said in a statement.

Police urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue reporting criminal or suspicious activities to the relevant security agencies.
