Two suspects have been arrested in Kabaa Village, Makueni County, after officers recovered a large quantity of bhang and drug-related items during a raid on Thursday.
The operation, led by NACADA Enforcement Officers and coordinated by Senior Superintendent of Police Nicholas Kosgei, was carried out following a tip-off from members of the public.
During the raid, authorities seized 20 brooms and 87 rolls of bhang, along with items believed to be used in drug trafficking, including Rizla rolling papers, scissors, and cash suspected to be proceeds from the illegal trade.
The suspects were arraigned in court on Friday to face charges of trafficking narcotic drugs.
NACADA CEO Dr. Anthony Omerikwa praised both the enforcement team and the local community for working together to crack down on the illegal activity.
“This arrest sends a clear message to drug traffickers and peddlers—your days are numbered,” said Dr. Omerikwa.
“We are committed to dismantling drug networks across the country, no matter how remote the location. If you traffic drugs, we will find you.”
He encouraged members of the public to continue sharing information anonymously through NACADA’s toll-free hotline 1192, adding that community involvement remains key in the national fight against drugs.
Dr. Omerikwa confirmed that similar operations will be intensified in the coming weeks as NACADA targets more drug distribution networks across Kenya.
