    Will McCormack, born William Joseph McCormack Jr. on January 13, 1974, in Plainfield, New Jersey, is a multifaceted American talent known for his work as an actor, screenwriter, producer and director.

    Raised in a family that nurtured creativity and intellect, Will has carved out a notable place in the entertainment industry.

    The youngest child of William Sr., a car dealership and ice cream parlor owner, and Norah Magdalene Ross, a clinical therapist, Will grew up alongside two older sisters who have also achieved prominence in their respective fields.

    His journey from a New Jersey upbringing to an Academy Award-winning storyteller reflects a blend of determination, talent, and familial influence.

    Will is the younger brother of Mary McCormack and Bridget Mary McCormack.

    Mary born February 8, 1969, Mary is the middle child and a celebrated actress known for her versatility across television and film.

    She gained widespread recognition for her roles as Justine Appleton in Murder One (1995–1997), Kate Harper in The West Wing (2004–2006), and Mary Shannon in In Plain Sight (2008–2012), where Will also appeared in a recurring role as FBI agent Robert O’Connor.

    Mary’s film credits include Private Parts (1997), Deep Impact (1998), and 1408 (2007).

    Beyond acting, she has ventured into producing, notably as an executive producer for the game show 25 Words or Less.

    Bridget is the eldest sibling, born in 1966, Bridget has pursued a distinguished career in law rather than the arts.

    A graduate of New York University School of Law, she served as a law professor at the University of Michigan and later as a Justice on the Michigan Supreme Court, becoming Chief Justice from 2019 to 2022.

    Bridget’s legal career is marked by her commitment to justice and education, earning her respect as a scholar and jurist.

    She is married and has four children, balancing her professional achievements with family life.

    Career

    McCormack’s career spans a diverse range of roles in the entertainment industry, showcasing his versatility as both a performer and a creative force behind the scenes.

    He began his acting journey on stage, appearing on Broadway in 1996 in a revival of Tennessee Williams’ Summer and Smoke.

    His early television roles included Jason La Penna in The Sopranos (1999–2001) and a recurring part in In Plain Sight, alongside his sister Mary.

    Will also featured in films like American Outlaws (2001) and Syriana (2005).

    Transitioning to writing and producing, Will co-wrote the screenplay for Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012) with Rashida Jones, a project that highlighted his knack for crafting poignant narratives.

    He contributed to the story of Pixar’s Toy Story 4 (2019), though he and Jones stepped away from the project in 2017.

    His most celebrated work came with the animated short If Anything Happens I Love You (2020), which he co-directed and produced, addressing themes of grief and healing.

    Accolades

    McCormack’s contributions to film and theater have not gone unnoticed, earning him several notable accolades.

    His screenplay for Celeste & Jesse Forever garnered nominations for the Independent Spirit Award for Best First Screenplay and the Black Reel Award for Outstanding Screenplay, Adapted or Original, underscoring his storytelling prowess.

    The pinnacle of his achievements came with If Anything Happens I Love You, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 2021, cementing his status as an Oscar-winning filmmaker.

    Additionally, his stage work earned him a Lucille Lortel Award for his performance in the off-Broadway play The Long Christmas Ride Home (2003), highlighting his early success as an actor.
