The world cup was the idea of a Frenchman named Jules Rimet in mid 1920s.
He conceptualized it with the belief that the sport had the power of bringing the world together and build peace.
The first world cup trophy was named after him and was sculpted with the image of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory.It was made of pure French gold.
The trophy became so powerful that Hitler’s Nazi Germany tried to steal it from the then champions Italy.This was after Germany were unable to win it on the pitch for years.
