A 14-year-old girl was found dead after suspected carbon monoxide poisoning in Oldonyosabuk, Matungulu, Machakos County. The body of the girl was found in a closed room where she was alone on Sunday February 9 morning, police said. Besides her bed, according to police, there were burnt beans that had boiled in a jiko overnight. The body did not have any visible injuries when it was picked up and taken to the mortuary. The US handed over at least 600 assorted guns to the Kenyan-led Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS) in Haiti boosting ongoing operations against criminal gangs in the Caribbean nation. The US justice department has told prosecutors to drop the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams. Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, who was appointed by President Donald Trump, instructed federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York to end the case. The Trump administration has violated a court order by refusing to reverse a freeze of billions in government funds, a judge ruled Monday. The ruling was the latest challenge to sweeping White House plans to cut costs and remake the US government. US District Judge John McConnell Jr previously ruled that the government should continue to fund programmes authorised by Congress. At least 50 youth arrested during a security operation in Isiolo Town on Friday and Saturday were released after pleading guilty to charges of being drunk and disorderly.  The operation followed an incident in which a group of youths heckled President William Ruto during his visit to the town on Friday. At least four people died from suffocation in an abandoned gold mine in Ruga village, Kowidi Location, Rachuonyo South on Monday afternoon.   Officials said the miners had ventured the 900-feet deep site without oxygen-supporting equipment during an unauthorized mining expedition, officials said. According to reports, the four men entered the mine, which had been abandoned for three years, without first informing the owner. The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Monday launched an audit of the systems, policies, procedures and practices of work of National Police Service (NPS) to tame corruption. The objective of the system audit exercise is to identify and address systemic weaknesses and loopholes that encourage corruption in Kenya’s police operations. Upon completion of the process, EACC will submit a comprehensive report of the findings and reform recommendations to the Inspector General of Police for implementation. UK  immigration enforcement teams made over 600 arrests in January, a 73 percent increase on the same period a year ago, as part of the new Labour government’s plan to tackle undocumented migration and people smuggling gangs, officials said on Monday. Police authorities are investigating an incident where their colleagues raided a private residence of a woman while searching for Sh20 million that had allegedly been stolen from a senator. Police are investigating an incident in which a man with a history of epilepsy was found in a trench of water in Southlands area, Siaya Town. Police said they found the body of Elphis Odhiambo, 25 lying on the roadside after the incident at the weekend. It was established that the deceased who is epileptic was walking on the road towards town when he is suspected to have convulsed and fell on a nearby trench that had water and he drowned.
