Liberia’s new President Joseph Boakai Monday failed to reach the end of his speech and had to be helped away from the podium during his swearing-in ceremony. Mr Boakai, 79, had been speaking for around 30 minutes at his inauguration ceremony when it became clear that he was having difficulty continuing. Two US Navy Seals who went missing during an operation to seize Iranian-made weapons – bound for Houthis in Yemen – are now presumed dead, the US military says. The incident took place on 11 January when commandos were boarding a ship off the coast of Somalia. Detectives in Gatundu South Sub County are investigating an incident where a 55-year-old woman was murdered, one of her breasts chopped off and her body dumped in a thicket near their home on Sunday evening. Cameroon is rolling out the world’s first routine vaccine programme against malaria, in a global fight projected to save thousands of children’s lives across Africa. The World Health Organization (WHO)-approved RTS,S vaccine, developed by British drugmaker GSK, is targeting infants in Cameroon’s 42 worst-affected districts. Majority of Kenyans are struggling to make ends meet, an Infotrak survey has shown. The survey shows that 55 per cent of Kenyans cannot get by due to the tough economic times. The poll also shows that 18 per cent of Kenyans are in severe financial distress with only 5 per cent comfortably coping with the situation. 22 per cent of Kenyans are neither struggling nor comfortable. Four Kenyan truck drivers were allegedly been shot dead under unclear circumstances in South Sudan. About 64 others were detained for demonstrating the killing of their colleagues. The Kenya Long Distance Drivers Association came out on Sunday January 21 to lament against atrocities allegedly committed against their members detained by the South Sudan officials. Two Kenyan students living in Australia died on Sunday, January 21 in an accident that occurred in the Western City of Perth. The incident which happened on the Tonkin Highway in Gosnells, turned tragic after the vehicle they were travelling in veered off the road and collided on a tree. In the video, which has surfaced online, the vehicle is seen erupting into flames after the collision with the tree. Detectives are investigating the discovery of the body of a man whose palm was missing on Ngong River in Kayole, Nairobi. Locals found the body on Sunday morning in Kianda area and alerted the police. Police who visited the scene said the body had a missing left palm from the wrist. The man was middle-aged. Police and Kenya Power officials are investigating two separate incidents of electrocution in Machakos and Kwale Counties. The first incident happened in Athi River area where one Davis Lumumba, 28 was electrocuted at a construction site. The victim was at the Edermann construction site of Great Wall Gardens Five when the incident happened on Saturday. A manager had told the deceased who was an electrician to disconnect a spotlight and connect a drill when he was electrocuted. This was after he touched a live naked wire. There was a double tragedy in Villa, Embakasi in Nairobi where a 39-year-old man died by suicide after he had killed his six-year-old daughter. Police said the incident happened on January 19 at the Bamba 70 area. The lifeless body of the young girl was first found lying on the bed with deep cuts on the neck and around the ears. Police are investigating an incident in which a mechanic was killed at a garage in Mlolongo town, Machakos County. Joseph Kathiaka, 33, was working on a trailer at the Toplink Logistics when the cabin of the said truck slipped and pressed his head against the chassis on Sunday morning.
