A police officer was found dead in his house in Kawangware, Nairobi.

Constable Victor Mwaka was attached to Muthaiga police station in Nairobi. His colleagues said he had been on a sick leave when he died on February 24, 2026. His body was found lying on his bed long after he had died. He lived alone in the house.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and other procedures.

Elsewhere, the Officer Commanding Station (OCS), Mbita in Homa Bay County Chief Inspector Morris Kyalo died in a road accident.

The incident happened on February 22 at Nyakayiemba area along the Homa Bay-Mbita Road. Police said the officer was driving alone in a salon car when it veered off the road and hit a culvert.

He sustained internal injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and investigations.

It was later on Wednesday moved to a mortuary in Machakos pending other burial plans by the family. His colleagues described him as a good man who was dedicated to his work.

And two police officers were attacked and injured by a mob that wanted to free a suspect in Shinyalu, Kakamega County.

The officers were admitted to hospital in a stable condition as the assailants escaped the scene.

Police said the hunt on the assailants was ongoing.

The suspect was detained pending arraignment following the February 24 incident.

Meanwhile, police said four people were killed in separate road accidents on Tuesday night. The victims were two riders, a pedestrian and a passenger. At least 21 people were left with injuries in the accidents and included 12 passengers, two riders and two drivers. They were admitted to separate hospitals, police said.

Locals were warned against attacking police officers who are discharging their duties.
