A court in Rongo, Migori county has nullified the nomination of 12 ODM MCAs after findings that the list that was presented by the party did not satisfy the gender requirement that is prescribed in the constitution.
The judge said that the party should come up with a new list that would uphold the two thirds gender rule required by the constitution.

Civil society groups have complained about the lack of gender balance in the 12th parliament. the center for Rights Education and Awareness (CREW) and the Community Advocacy and Awareness Trust (Crawn Trust) are some of the groups that have on going cases on the same.
