    Lautaro Javier Martínez, born on August 22, 1997, in Bahía Blanca, Argentina, is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-forward.

    Standing at 1.74 meters and right-footed, the 28-year-old captains Serie A club Inter Milan and is a key player for the Argentina national team.

    Known for his clinical finishing, work rate, physicality, and ability to link play, Martínez has established himself as one of the world’s top strikers, following in the footsteps of his father, Mario Martínez, who was also a professional footballer.

    Lautaro has two brothers. His older brother, Alan Martínez (born around 1996), plays as a centre-half for Liniers in Argentina.

    His younger brother, Jano Martínez (born in 2003), is also a sportsman who has played in lower divisions in Argentina and has been involved in national youth setups.

    The brothers grew up in a football-oriented family, with their father Mario’s career influencing all three siblings, though Lautaro emerged as the standout talent.

    Career

    Martínez began his career in the youth ranks of local club Liniers before joining Racing Club’s academy in 2014.

    He made his senior debut for Racing in 2015 and quickly impressed with his goal-scoring prowess, netting 27 goals in 62 appearances across competitions.

    In 2018, he transferred to Inter Milan for around €22.7 million, where he has since become a club legend.

    At Inter, Martínez has developed into a complete forward, contributing to multiple domestic successes while reaching the finals of the UEFA Europa League in 2020 and the UEFA Champions League in 2023 and 2025.

    He has captained the side and ranks among the club’s all-time top goalscorers.

    Internationally, he debuted for Argentina in 2018 and played pivotal roles in major tournament victories.

    He continues to lead the line for both club and country, including participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

    Accolades

    With Inter Milan, Martinez has won three Serie A titles (2020–21, 2023–24, 2025–26), three Coppa Italia titles, and multiple Supercoppa Italiana trophies.

    Individually, he has been named Serie A Footballer of the Year and Serie A top scorer.

    On the international stage with Argentina, Martínez has secured the 2021 Copa América, the 2022 FIFA World Cup, and the 2024 Copa América, where he claimed the Golden Boot as top scorer and scored the winning goal in the final.

    Additional honors include the CONMEBOL/UEFA Finalissima.
