    Siblings

Leny comes from a football-loving family and has three younger brothers: Roméo, Eden, and Esteban.

His parents, Alain Yoro (a former footballer of Ivorian descent who played for Lille’s reserve team) and Flore Baugnies (of Northern French ancestry), separated after the birth of the youngest child, Esteban, in 2013.

Yoro grew up primarily with his mother and brothers in the Lille area after the separation.

Two of his brothers, notably Eden, have followed in his footsteps by playing in Lille’s youth system, showcasing promising talent.

The family remains close, with his mother and brothers often traveling to support him, including drives across the Channel to watch matches in England.

Yoro, being significantly older than his siblings (eight years older than Esteban), developed a somewhat separate but supportive role within the family dynamic while living at home with them before his move to Manchester United.

    Career

Yoro began his football journey at a young age, starting at Alfortville before moving to Villeneuve-d’Ascq and joining Lille’s renowned academy in 2017.

He progressed rapidly through the ranks, making his professional debut for Lille in May 2022 at just 16 years, six months, and one day old, becoming one of the club’s youngest-ever debutants.

In his early seasons, he transitioned from substitute appearances to a key starter in the 2023–24 campaign, featuring prominently in Ligue 1 and European competitions like the UEFA Europa Conference League.

His performances drew widespread acclaim for his defensive duel success and passing accuracy.

In July 2024, Manchester United secured his signature for a reported €62 million base fee, making him one of the most expensive teenagers in football history.

After overcoming an early injury, he has integrated into the Premier League side, wearing the number 15 shirt.

    Accolades

During his breakthrough season with Lille in 2023–24, Yoro earned selection to the Ligue 1 Team of the Year and was nominated for the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year award.

He has represented France across various youth levels, including U17, U18, U19, U21, and the Olympic team.

His rapid rise has positioned him as a future leader in French and European football, with continued recognition for his potential as a world-class centre-back.
