Police in Samburu North Sub-County have arrested a 30-year-old man suspected of killing his 16-year-old nephew in Tuum Location.
The suspect, Daniel Tanapua, was arrested by officers from Baragoi Police Station after a manhunt. According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the incident happened shortly after the two had shared an evening meal. A domestic disagreement is said to have turned violent, leading to the teenager’s death.
When police arrived at the scene, they found the body of Alpha Lemoosa lying in a pool of blood. Investigators recovered a blood-stained Somali sword believed to have been used in the attack. The body was taken to Baragoi Sub-County Hospital mortuary for preservation and post-mortem examination.
“A swift and coordinated manhunt was launched, and the suspect was later arrested at his hideout while trying to wash blood-stained clothes to destroy evidence,” the DCI said.
Tanapua is currently in police custody as investigations continue, ahead of his arraignment in court.
