A 35-year-old man was found dead in his bed after a suspected murder in Getare village, Nyamira County.

Police believe the killers of Philip Bosire were hiding in his house before they attacked him. His body was found on his bed on Sunday October 19, 2025 afternoon long after he had been murdered.

He had multiple facial injuries after the attack. The deceased lived alone in the house. He had on Saturday night taken his super in his parents’ house before he walked to his house oblivious of the dangers waiting for him.

Police suspect the killers were hiding in the house.

His relatives were concerned he had not woken up and went to check on him only to find the house locked from outside. He was also not responding to his calls.

They forced the door to open when they found the man lying dead in a pool of blood with a disfigured face and injuries on the back of the head.

The assailants stole a six-kilo gas cylinder, a 32-inch television set and three mobile phones that were in the house, police said.

A mob attacked a home in the area claiming the assailant came from there.

The deceased had been released from jail where he was serving a 24-year jail term over claims of defilement. This was after he appealed the ruling.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Elsewhere in Olmukongo village, Narok County, one Dennis Kapolonto Tamoo, 63 was found murdered in the sitting room of his one-bedroom semi-permanent house with a deep cut on the head.

It was established that the deceased lived with his wife in the same compound but in different rooms.

She told police she heard her dogs barking and upon checking she also found her husband who came out from his room who was also checking what was happening and they returned back to the house only to find in the morning her room locked from outside.

She later went to check on her husband where she found him lying dead with a deep cut on the head.

At the scene, a copy of a title deed was recovered. Police said they detained the wife and the family herder as part of the probe into the murder.

In Ombeyi, Ahero, Kisumu County, a man was found beheaded on a rice plantation.

The body was found lying in a harvested rice farm with multiple cuts on both hands, beheaded and deep cuts in the stomach.

The motive of the murder was not immediately known.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy and identification.
