Businessman Oketch Salah has responded after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) clarified that his activities and statements do not represent the party.
ODM issued a statement on Friday, with Party Chairperson Gladys Wanga emphasizing that all official party activities are conducted through the party secretariat under the leadership of Dr. Oburu Odinga. She warned members and grassroots leaders against organising or participating in any activities in the name of ODM without approval.
“No activities should be organised or conducted in the name of ODM without prior consultation and approval from the party leadership,” Wanga said.
In response, Oketch Salah defended his actions, saying everything he has done was meant to strengthen and popularize the party.
“If I have hurt you, Chairlady Wanga, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention,” he said.
Oketch added that his efforts were funded entirely from his personal resources and that he has not used ODM funds or asked the party for money.
“Let me also be clear: the resources I have been using are my own, personal resources. This has been my personal contribution to the party out of respect,” he said, emphasizing that his commitment to ODM is genuine.
He further stressed the need to re-energize and refresh the party, saying his dedication is not just for show.
