Rachin Ravindra is a New Zealand international cricketer known as a left-handed batting all-rounder who also bowls slow left-arm orthodox spin.

Born on 18 November 1999 in Wellington, New Zealand, he is of Indian origin with roots in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

His parents, Ravi Krishnamurthy, a software architect and former club-level cricketer, and Deepa Krishnamurthy, both moved from Bengaluru to Wellington in 1997.

His maternal grandfather, Balakrishna Adiga (also referred to as T.A. Balakrishna Adiga), is a noted educationist and former principal of Vijaya College in Bengaluru, while his grandmother is Poornima Adiga.

Ravindra began playing cricket at the age of five, influenced by the game and figures like Sachin Tendulkar, and developed his skills through local clubs including the Hutt Hawks Cricket Club founded by his father.

He represents New Zealand across formats, plays domestic cricket for Wellington, and has featured in the Indian Premier League for teams such as Chennai Super Kings as well as other franchise leagues.

He continued to develop across formats, contributing significantly in Tests with a notable century in Bengaluru during New Zealand’s historic series win in India in 2024, and delivering strong performances in limited-overs cricket.

Franchise success has included appearances in the IPL and Major League Cricket with Washington Freedom.
