Police in Mombasa County launched a manhunt for a suspect following the discovery of a woman’s decomposing body in Likoni Sub-County.

According to the police, the incident was reported on the night of April 25, 2026, after a foul smell was noticed emanating from one of the rooms in a Swahili house.

Police responded to the scene and found the room locked from the outside.

Upon gaining access, they discovered the lifeless body of a woman identified as Fedelis Chepchumba, a 22-year-old. The body, which was partially decomposed, was found lying on a bed.

Preliminary observations indicated that the deceased had sustained an injury on the left side of the face, believed to have been inflicted by a blunt object.

Investigations revealed that the house had been rented by her boyfriend who works at a local bakery within Likoni and was last seen on April 22, 2026.

Crime scene personnel processed and documented the scene before the body was moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted.

Police have since launched a search for the boyfriend, who is considered the main suspect in the suspected murder.

And police in Migori County launched investigations into a brutal murder incident in Suna East Sub-county.

According to police, the body of Faith Awino Oloo, a 23-year-old woman, was discovered in her house at Ndege Village in Lichota Location.

Police visited the scene and found the victim lying on the floor in a pool of blood. The body had multiple deep cuts on the left hand, chest, neck, and head.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased had previously been married to a man with whom she had two children.

It is reported that she had returned to her parents’ home last year to continue her education and sat her KCSE exams.

Witness accounts suggest that on the night of the incident, at around 9:00 p.m., a commotion was heard from the kitchen area. An eyewitness reported seeing a man resembling the deceased’s husband assaulting her before fleeing the scene.

Neighbours were alerted, but by the time they arrived, the suspect had escaped, leaving the victim fatally injured.

Crime scene investigators processed the area before the body was moved to Migori County Referral Hospital mortuary, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect as investigations continue.
