Police are investigating claims the illicit brew that has so far claimed 17 lives in Kirinyaga County was an exhibit, that had been stored at Kiamaciri police station.  The brew had apparently been confiscated and kept at the local police station as an exhibit when it mysteriously went missing. It found itself in the hands of the owner of a bar where the 17 villagers took it and died. Many are blinded in hospitals. Retired police boss Zachary King’ori Mwangi is dead.  His family said King’ori died Sunday February 11 in hospital in Nairobi where he had been admitted. He had a stomach complication that prompted an operation which went bad. His family sent a message to his friends to announce the death. “We wish to inform the public of the death of Mr Kingori Mwangi, a retired police officer.Kingori passed on this morning at a Nairobi hospital where he was receiving treatment. A primary school teacher who survived an attack by cattle rustlers at the age of nine, leaving him totally blind, was shot dead by bandits in an attack in Baringo. Former Tanzanian Prime Minister Edward Lowassa has died. Lowassa died while receiving treatment at the Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute in Dar es Salaam. The announcement was made by Tanzania’s Vice President Dr Philip Mpango via the national television, TBC. The departed served as Tanzania’s Prime Minister between 2005 to 2008 under President Jakaya Kikwete. He was the first Prime Minister to have pushed into vacating office. Two suspects were killed and their bodies burnt after they stormed a funeral harambee in Jomvu area, Mombasa. Police said a group of nine suspects armed with pangas and crude weapons stormed the funeral and assaulted the mourners. Police said the suspects attacked one resident and allegedly stole a laptop, musical instruments, phones and the funeral cash among other valuables. Your bank account details will soon be shared with the taxman.  This is after Kenyan commercial banks started to implement the Common Reporting Standards (CRS), a tax procedures regulation of 2023. The gang behind a series of gold scams in Nairobi has shifted to Mombasa where they scammed a Chinese businessman of Sh151 million pretending they would send him tantalum minerals.  This is after detectives from Nairobi intercepted two containers in Mombasa declared as tantalum minerals from Congo that were to be shipped to China. The Chinese businessman deposited Sh151 million, only for one container to land in China loaded with soil instead of the said minerals. This prompted him to report the matter to police. A Somali national who allegedly assaulted a British national in Eastleigh, Nairobi was arrested on return from China where he had been.  This follows a warrant of arrest that had been issued against him for jumping bail.
