The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has announced a wide-ranging recruitment drive for 32 positions across various departments, alongside the advertisement of the vacant position of Chairperson of the Authority’s Board.
In a notice issued on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, IPOA said it is seeking to fill positions including Senior Accountant, Inspections Officer, Legal Officer, Research Officer and Clerical Officer, with one position available in each category.
The Authority is also recruiting three Call Centre Officers, six Complaints Management Officers, two Monitoring Officers, nine Investigations Officers, four Drivers and three Office Assistants.
Qualified candidates have been invited to submit their applications online through the IPOA careers portal at https://www.ipoa.go.ke/ipoa/careers. The Authority stated that no physical applications will be accepted.
Applications must reach IPOA by May 18, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. East African Time. Successful applicants will be addressed to the Director/Chief Executive Officer, Independent Policing Oversight Authority, ACK Garden Annex, 1st Ngong Avenue, 2nd Floor, P.O. Box 23035–00100, Nairobi.
In a separate notice, IPOA also invited applications for the position of Chairperson of its Board through a Selection Panel.
Applicants for the chairperson role must be Kenyan citizens and hold a degree from a university recognised in Kenya. They must also meet the qualifications for appointment as a Judge of the High Court under Article 166(5) of the Constitution, including at least 10 years’ experience as a superior court judge, a professionally qualified magistrate, a distinguished academic, legal practitioner, or experience in another relevant legal field.
Candidates are also required to meet the leadership and integrity requirements outlined in Chapter Six of the Constitution.
The successful candidate will serve a single non-renewable term of six years. The notice added that remuneration for the position will be determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Interested applicants are required to submit a detailed curriculum vitae, copies of national identification documents, academic and professional certificates, transcripts, testimonials and other supporting documents. Applications must be clearly marked “Application for the position of Chairperson, Independent Policing Oversight Authority” and submitted either by hand delivery to the Public Service Commission offices in Nairobi or via registered mail to the Selection Panel.
All applications must be received by Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. East African Time.
The position fell vacant following the appointment of Issack Hassan to the Court of Appeal.
