Lawson Crouse is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger and alternate captain for the Utah Mammoth of the National Hockey League (NHL).

Born on June 23, 1997, in Mount Brydges, Ontario, he stands at 6 feet 4 inches and weighs around 215 pounds.

He shoots left and is known for his physical, power-forward style, toughness, forechecking, and net-front presence, earning the nickname “The Sheriff.”

Drafted 11th overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, he was traded to the Arizona Coyotes in 2016 and moved with the franchise to Utah.

He has played over 650 NHL games as a reliable, hard-hitting forward.

    Siblings

Lawson has two older sisters, Sara and Kyla, both of whom grew up playing ice hockey.

Kyla, in particular, played as an offensive winger and committed to Queen’s University Golden Gaels while Lawson joined the Kingston Frontenacs of the OHL, creating a memorable family connection in the same city.

Sara was also involved in hockey during their upbringing in Mount Brydges, Ontario.

    Career

Crouse developed through minor hockey with the Elgin-Middlesex Chiefs alongside his best friend Travis Konecny.

Selected fifth overall by the Kingston Frontenacs in the 2013 OHL Priority Draft, he progressed steadily, posting strong offensive numbers and showing physicality.

In 2015, the Panthers drafted him highly, and after a trade to Arizona, he made his NHL debut in 2016.

He split early time between the NHL and AHL before becoming a full-time contributor.

With the Coyotes (and later Utah), Crouse evolved into a consistent power forward. His breakout came in 2021-22 with 20 goals, leading to a lucrative contract extension.

Known for his durability and leadership, he has recorded over 250 career NHL points while logging significant ice time and contributing in all zones.

The franchise relocation to Utah in 2024 marked a new chapter, where he continues as an alternate captain and physical presence.

    Accolades

Crouse helped Canada win gold at the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship.

In 2023, he represented Canada at the IIHF World Championship, recording nine points in 10 games and winning another gold medal.

In junior hockey, he earned OHL Second All-Rookie Team honors in 2014.
