Michael Mutiga has been confirmed as the new Chief Executive Officer of Stanbic Bank Kenya following approval by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK).

Mutiga brings more than 20 years of leadership experience spanning banking, telecommunications and digital financial services.

His experience includes strategy, business growth and organisational transformation, areas that will be central to his new role as he leads Stanbic Bank Kenya.

“We look forward to his leadership as we continue creating long-term value for our clients, people and stakeholders,” Stanbic Bank said.

Before joining Stanbic Bank, Mutiga served at Safaricom as Chief Business Development and Strategy Officer.

Before joining Safaricom, Mutiga spent about 15 years at Citibank, where he rose through senior local and regional positions.

He eventually became Managing Director and Head of Corporate Finance for Sub-Saharan Africa, based in Johannesburg.

His banking career also included a stint at Barclays, where he served as Regional Coverage Head for Investment Banking in East Africa.
