    Siblings

Radek has an older brother named Martin.

The brothers began their ice hockey journey together in their hometown of Opava.

Growing up with a single mother who was a former figure skater, the family faced financial challenges in supporting their hockey pursuits, which motivated Radek to move away at age 11 for better development opportunities.

    Career

Faksa played junior hockey in the Czech Republic before being drafted 22nd overall in the 2011 CHL Import Draft by the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

In his rookie OHL season (2011–12), he led all league rookies with 29 goals and 66 points, earning OHL First All-Rookie Team honors and multiple Rookie of the Month awards.

He was selected 13th overall by the Dallas Stars in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

After further development in the OHL and with the AHL’s Texas Stars, Faksa made his NHL debut in the 2015–16 season.

He quickly established himself as a dependable third-line centre and penalty killer.

Over his tenure with Dallas, he contributed to deep playoff runs, including the 2020 Stanley Cup Final appearance.

Faksa spent nine seasons primarily with the Stars before a brief stint with the St. Louis Blues in 2024–25.

He returned to the Stars via free agency for the 2025–26 season, rejoining the organization where he has spent the majority of his NHL career.

Known for his faceoff prowess and defensive reliability, Faksa has played over 700 NHL games.

    Accolades

Faksa’s junior accolades include leading OHL rookies in scoring and being named to the OHL First All-Rookie Team in 2011–12.

He has represented Czechia internationally on multiple occasions, including at World Championships and the Olympics.

While he has not won major individual NHL awards, his consistent defensive contributions, leadership, and role as a shutdown centre have made him a respected veteran.
