A Member of County Assembly (MCA) from Kisii County has raised alarm over alleged death threats, claiming his life is in danger.

Bouse Mairura, a ward representative in Kisii, says he has been receiving a series of disturbing phone calls and text messages from unknown individuals targeting him over his political stance.

Mairura, who is affiliated with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA), is known for his outspoken criticism of a senior local politician said to be spearheading President William Ruto’s two-term political push in the region.

Speaking on Saturday, the MCA revealed that the threats have been sent from multiple phone numbers and include demands that he abandon his current political position.

He described the messages as serious and alarming, saying they appear intended to intimidate him into silence on key political matters.

The ward representative confirmed that he has reported the incidents to the police and is now seeking urgent intervention from relevant security agencies.

“I will not be silenced or forced to compromise my beliefs,” Mairura stated, reaffirming his commitment to serving his constituents and upholding his responsibilities as an elected leader.

Mairura has also declared his intention to vie for the Nyaribari Masaba parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.

He is now calling on authorities to launch immediate investigations and bring those responsible to justice.

According to him, such threats not only endanger his personal safety but also undermine democratic principles and freedom of expression.

Mairura warned that those behind what he termed as “cowardly acts” would ultimately be held accountable under the law.

He further urged security agencies to treat the matter with urgency to prevent any escalation.

Copies of his complaint have reportedly been forwarded to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the National Police Service, as he seeks swift and decisive action to ensure his safety.
