    Early Life

Born Ian Anderson Paice on June 29, 1948, in Nottingham, England, he developed a fascination with rhythm at an early age. By age 15, he had received his first drum kit and began performing with his father’s dance band. His early professional journey started with groups such as Georgie & the Rave-Ons (later known as the Shindigs) and MI5, which eventually became Maze. These early years shaped his musical discipline and prepared him for a career that would soon define hard rock drumming.

Rise to Fame with Deep Purple

In 1968, Paice co-founded Deep Purple alongside vocalist Rod Evans, guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, bassist Nick Simper, and keyboardist Jon Lord. The band went on to become one of the pioneers of the British hard rock sound, alongside Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Over the years, Deep Purple has released 23 studio albums and 43 live albums, selling over 100 million records worldwide.
